Foster enlightenment and enthusiasm through organized activities for science and its cognate disciplines, and set up an intellectual ambiance that would lay the foundations for scientific creativity, research and discovery in the Maldives.

Vision

The creation [in the Maldives] of a people well-versed in science and its cognate disciplines, and the eventual creation of a scientific zeitgeist – a people, whose approach to life is complemented by scientific creativity, research and discovery.

MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION:

The Maldives Science Society welcomes all those genuinely interested in science, and seeks the participation of individuals such as scientists, lecturers, teachers, students and all those actively involved in science academia and in disciplines that fall within the purview of science. • Hosting lectures by eminent scientists/intellectuals [in affiliation with international scientific bodies]
• Publishing/linking articles by [Maldivian] scientists/intellectuals
• Conducting classes [especially for children] in science and cognate disciples viz. mathematics and critical thinking
• Publishing regular science journals on the web
• Hosting regular scientific video documentaries at theatres and halls and conducting related edutainment activities
• Conducting regular television and radio broadcasts on science
• Conducting social and alternative discussion forums on science
• Conducting scientific field trips
• Commemoration of events and dates hosted by and associated with the international scientific community

Disclaimer/Resolution

As the Maldives Science Society was conceived and founded with the sole aim of fostering enlightenment and enthusiasm for science in the Maldives, it is the unanimous and uncompromising resolution of our Founders that this Society, and by extension its website, shall be utilized for the propagation of science alone and non other. Hence, the Maldives Science Society renounces or dissociates itself from any article herein or any article accessible via any of the links herein that endorses or entertains, explicitly or otherwise, any concept, notion or idea that is not perceived by the scientific community as being amenable, at least in principle, to the scientific method and hence to scientific inquiry and discourse.
